INDIA VS BAN 1th Test Match : The Indian bowlers absolutely took charge on Day 2 of the first Test in Chennai, leaving Bangladesh in Shock. Leading the charge was none other than Jasprit Bumrah, whose Quick pace delivered 4 wickets, skittling the visitors out for a paltry 149. With this stellar performance, India secured a commanding 227-run lead in the first innings.

But that’s not all.Bumrah hit a career milestone, becoming only the 10th Indian bowler to Take 400 international wickets. It took him just 227 innings to reach this incredible achievement, making him the fifth-fastest Indian to do so. Ravichandran Ashwin, India's spin ledgend and current world No.1 Test bowler, still holds the top spot, reaching 400 wickets in just 216 innings.

  • 220 innings – Kapil Dev
  • 224 innings – Mohammed Shami

Bumrah set the tone early, sending Shadman Islam packing in the very first over. By lunchtime, Bangladesh had already lost three wickets, tottering at a meager 26 runs. Newcomer Akash Deep, playing in just his second Test, also shined, taking two crucial wickets and piling the pressure on Bangladesh.

There was a brief flicker of resistance from Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das, who managed to put together a 51-run partnership for the sixth wicket. However, Ravindra Jadeja stepped in, breaking the stand and dismissing both settled batters. Bumrah then returned to finish off the job, claiming two more wickets as Bangladesh crumbled, all out for 149 in 47.1 overs.

Bumrah’s 400th wicket came when he trapped Hasan Mahmud, followed by a signature scorching yorker to knock over Taskin Ahmed for his 401st wicket. Although the right-arm quick conceded 50 runs in his 11 overs, his contribution was pivotal in dismantling Bangladesh. Ashwin, meanwhile, bowled with tight economy, giving away just 2.23 runs per over, though he remained wicketless.

Earlier in the day, India added a modest 37 runs to their overnight total. Ravindra Jadeja narrowly missed his century, falling 14 runs short, while Ashwin top-scored with a magnificent 113 off 133 balls, propelling India to a first-innings total of 376.
