Indian Railways IRCTC: Frequent complaints from passengers regarding payment failures and ticket generation issues during online booking are soon to be a thing of the past. IRCTC has unveiled a comprehensive plan aimed at eliminating these challenges.
Indian Railways: A common grievance among passengers booking train tickets online is the frustration of encountering confirmed ticket statuses that later turn waitlisted due to slow processing times. Many also report cases where payments are deducted, but tickets aren’t generated promptly. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is preparing to deliver a solution to these persistent issues. In the near future, online ticket bookings will be instantaneous, allowing passengers to secure their tickets in mere seconds. Let’s delve into IRCTC's strategic blueprint:
IRCTC CMD Sanjay Jain has identified the root cause of these issues as the inadequate server capacity. The current servers cannot accommodate the high volume of users attempting to book tickets online simultaneously, leading to delays and failures in the booking process.
Proposed Solution
IRCTC is actively enhancing its server capacity. The initiative is already in motion and is slated for completion by March 2025. Following this upgrade, passengers can expect an immediate booking experience, with no delays after clicking. The system will process requests instantly, and tickets will be generated within moments.
Over 9 Lakh Tickets Booked Online Daily
IRCTC boasts 3 crore users across the nation. Presently, over 9 lakh tickets are booked online each day, including bookings made by passengers and agents alike. With more than 2 crore passengers traveling by train daily, this upgrade will significantly improve the booking experience across the board.
