Air India Unveils In-Flight Wi-Fi on Domestic Routes
Air India has officially introduced in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity across its domestic and international flights, setting a new benchmark in Indian aviation. This groundbreaking service is now available on select aircraft, including the Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and specific Airbus A321neo models. With this innovation, Air India becomes the first airline to offer internet connectivity on flights within Indian airspace.
Passengers can now stay connected mid-air, accessing social media platforms and messaging applications on a range of devices. Laptops, tablets, and smartphones operating on iOS or Android are compatible with the service. Travelers can also link multiple devices simultaneously once the aircraft reaches an altitude of 10,000 feet.
This initiative follows a successful pilot program on international routes featuring Airbus A350s, select Airbus A321neo models, and Boeing B787-9s serving major destinations, including New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. To celebrate the launch, Air India is offering complimentary Wi-Fi access during an introductory phase.
The airline has ambitious plans to expand Wi-Fi connectivity to additional aircraft in its fleet over time. However, the service's performance is subject to variables such as satellite coverage, bandwidth availability, flight path, and regulatory guidelines.
To access the Wi-Fi, passengers need to activate the service on their device, connect to the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network, and input their PNR and last name on the portal provided.
TRAI Warns Against Fake Recharge Scams
In a related development, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a cautionary advisory to mobile users nationwide. Scammers have been circulating fraudulent SMS messages, falsely claiming to offer free recharge benefits in TRAI’s name. These deceptive messages aim to exploit unsuspecting individuals by luring them into scams.
TRAI has firmly denied any association with such offers and urges users to exercise vigilance. Mobile users are advised to disregard these suspicious messages and refrain from sharing personal information or clicking on dubious links.
