IMD Issues Red Alert for Heavy Rain in 14 States Over 6 Days – Weather Update

Weather Conditions and Updates

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert, forecasting exceptionally heavy rainfall in 14 states from August 7. The states affected include Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, where rainfall is expected to exceed 12 cm.

Monsoon Overview

Monsoon showers are set to drench a significant portion of India, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu throughout the week. According to the IMD, strong winds accompanied by thunderstorms are also anticipated. In regions like Maharashtra and Delhi, which have recently experienced severe rainfall, some respite is expected.

Detailed Rainfall Forecast

August 7 Forecast: Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are forecasted to receive torrential rains exceeding 12 cm.

Other Areas: Heavy rainfall is likely in the Jammu Division, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, East Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Thunderstorms and lightning are anticipated in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand.

Weekly Weather Outlook

From August 7 to 13, widespread rains are expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Konkan, Goa, the Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra, Kutch, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal including Sikkim.

Additionally, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, and Rayalaseema are expected to experience rainfall over the next five days.
