HDFC ERGO strengthens its commitment to making health insurance more Accessible, Affordable, and Convenient with the introduction of six new products and two service upgrades.

Revolutionary Offerings in Health Insurance

HDFC ERGO General Insurance, a trailblazer in India's private insurance sector, has unveiled a game-changing suite of health insurance products and services, responding to the evolving needs of the Indian populace. These innovative offerings are set to redefine convenience and accessibility in the health insurance landscape.

As healthcare costs continue to rise across the nation, compounded by the uncertainties triggered by the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the necessity for comprehensive health insurance coverage has become undeniable. To address this growing concern, HDFC ERGO has introduced an array of new products and service enhancements that will not only expand healthcare access across India but also extend this coverage globally.

Among the standout features of this launch is the enhancement of the widely preferred Optima Secure product. Known for its versatility, this product now offers even broader coverage, catering to the rising aspirations of Indian customers.

The newly introduced service upgrades are specifically designed to address long-standing customer pain points, particularly during cashless hospitalizations, ensuring smoother experiences.

We firmly believe that these innovations will reinforce the trust Indian citizens place in health insurance and will significantly contribute to the inclusion of more individuals in the insurance fold.”

Key New Products:

  1. Optima Secure Enhancements:
  • Global Treatment Plans: For the first time in the industry, policyholders can now receive treatment anywhere in the world. This offering even covers the travel expenses of a companion supporting the insured during treatment.
  • New Deductible Options: Higher deductibles of up to ₹5 lakhs, offering reduced premiums as part of the base policy. Additionally, there's an option to reinstate full coverage after five years or once the insured reaches the age of 50.
  • Individual Personal Accident Rider: This add-on cover provides a lump sum payout in case of Accidental Death, Permanent Total Disability, or Permanent Partial Disability.
  • Special Discounts for NRIs: For the first time, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) can avail of special discounts of up to 40%, with this feature rolling out in the third week of November.
  • Optima Wellbeing:
  • An OPD subscription plan offering unlimited tele and in-person consultations and free home sample collections.
  • Discounts of up to 40% on diagnostics and medications.
  • A fully cashless system for greater convenience.
  • Initially launching in Mumbai, with plans to expand to other cities.
  • My: Health Koti Suraksha:
  • A personal accident insurance product providing coverage of up to ₹5 crores.
  • Comprehensive protection against Accidental Death, Permanent Total Disability, and Permanent Partial Disability.
  • A revamped travel insurance plan covering health emergencies, flight disruptions, and in-trip crises.
  • Customizable plans tailored for all types of travelers, from value-seekers to luxury travelers.
  • Family coverage in a single policy.

Industry-First Cashless Service Upgrades:

  • Early Discharge from Hospitals:
  • HDFC ERGO introduces a seamless discharge process for patients undergoing cashless hospitalization. Customers no longer need to endure long approval waits; once the hospital signs the discharge summary, patients can leave immediately. Currently available across 25 network hospitals in 16 cities, this facility will be extended further.
  1. Pre-Approved Cashless Facilities for Chronic Patients:
  • Patients with chronic conditions like chemotherapy, dialysis, or radiotherapy can now receive a one-time approval for multiple cashless hospitalizations at the same facility. This new feature offers peace of mind to patients and their families during ongoing treatments.

Both of these pioneering features have never been offered by any other insurer in India.
