I’m also drinking Yamuna water: PM jabs Arvind Kejriwal over ‘poisoning’ claim

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticized Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal at a Kartar Nagar rally, dismissing claims that Haryana deliberately contaminated Yamuna River water to disrupt Delhi’s supply as “an insult to India’s values.” The remarks came as the Election Commission sought evidence from Kejriwal to substantiate his poisoning allegations by Wednesday evening.

Modi framed the accusation as politically motivated, stating: “Does Haryana have separate citizens? The same Yamuna water reaches Delhi’s judges, diplomats, poor families – and even me. Would Haryana poison water their own relatives drink?” He compared AAP leaders to infamous conman Charles Sobhraj for “duping voters through false promises.”

The PM intensified his “AAP-da (disaster)” rhetoric, predicting the party’s “ship will sink in Yamuna” during February 5 elections. He accused AAP and Congress of covert alliance plans that would bring “double disaster” to Delhi, while highlighting unresolved infrastructure issues like traffic, waterlogging, and pollution after 11 years of AAP governance.

With Delhi facing a three-way contest between BJP, AAP, and Congress, Modi positioned the election as a choice between BJP’s “double-engine development” and opposition “excuses.” Results for the 70-seat assembly will be declared on February 8.
