Three terrorists belonging to Khalistan Commando Force were killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh The police also seized two AK-47 rifles and two pistols from their custody

Three Khalistani terrorists, accused of attacking a police post in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district, were killed in an encounter with police in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district in the early hours of Monday, December 23.

The accused, Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18), belonged to a banned organisation named Khalistan Commando Force and were killed in a joint encounter with Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police.

The police also seized two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and several live rounds from their custody.

A team of Punjab Police informed Pilibhit Police about the presence of the three accused in an area under the jurisdiction of the Puranpur police station of the district, following which an operation was launched. The police also received a tip-off about the presence of three men with suspicious items in Puranpur.

Based on the information, the police cornered the accused and the encounter broke out in the early hours of Monday in which the three accused were killed.

“The accused fired at the police team on being challenged and in the retaliatory firing, they were killed. The joint operation was conducted by teams of Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police. The Punjab Police team also told us about their foreign connections. A probe has been launched into the entire incident,” a senior official of the Pilibihit Police said in a media statement.

Earlier on Saturday, December 21, an explosion allegedly occurred at the abandoned police post in Kalanaur sub-division of Gurdaspur district. The attack that took place amid heightened police vigil, however, did not cause any damage to life or property.
