BSNL has seen a surge in new subscribers following recent tariff hikes by private telecom giants like Jio, Airtel, and Vi. The state-run telecom provider stands out with its competitively priced recharge plans, drawing attention from a growing number of users. To further enhance its offerings, BSNL is accelerating its 4G rollout, eyeing new customers—especially in rural regions where feature phones still dominate the market.

In a move to cater to these users, BSNL has introduced a new service. According to a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the company has entered into a partnership with Karbonn Mobiles. Together, they are launching an exclusive SIM-handset bundle under the Bharat 4G Companion Policy. This initiative is set to rival Jio Bharat 4G feature phones, offering high-speed connectivity at an accessible price point.

With these new handsets, users won’t require costly smartphones to access BSNL's 4G services. On its foundation day (October 1), BSNL solidified this collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Karbonn Mobiles.

In its X post, BSNL stated, “With this milestone MoU, BSNL and Karbonn Mobiles are introducing an exclusive SIM-handset bundling offer under the Bharat 4G Companion Policy. Our collective aim is to provide affordable 4G connectivity to every corner of the nation.”

Simultaneously, BSNL is also focusing on enhancing service quality. The company announced, via its X handle, that it is preparing to launch an AI/ML-powered solution aimed at curbing spam communications across its network. This proactive measure is designed to boost user experience by identifying and neutralizing spam before it reaches subscribers.

BSNL's 4G rollout is well underway, and the company is also in the advanced stages of testing its 5G network. According to BSNL, this cutting-edge technology is nearing completion and will soon be available to users. Once operational, the AI/ML solution will be a key feature in ensuring a secure and efficient network experience.

This advanced technology is expected to be unveiled at the India Mobile Congress 2024, a significant event for the telecom industry, scheduled from October 15-18.
