Surya Grahan 2024 Date, Time in India
The second lunar eclipse of the year has already passed, leaving only one eclipse remaining in 2024—a solar eclipse. In Hinduism, eclipses hold deep spiritual meaning, believed to impact both the nation and the world. According to religious beliefs, a solar eclipse always aligns with the Amavasya (New Moon) date. This year, the final solar eclipse falls on Sarva Pitru Amavasya. Below, we outline the exact date and time of the solar eclipse, the Sutak period, and whether it will be visible in India.

When is the Second Solar Eclipse of 2024? (Surya Grahan 2024 Date)
As per the Panchang, the second solar eclipse of 2024 takes place on the Amavasya of the Ashwin month. This eclipse begins on the evening of October 2 at 9:13 PM and concludes in the early hours of October 3 at 3:17 AM. The total duration spans approximately 6 hours and 4 minutes.

Will the Solar Eclipse Be Visible in India? (Surya Grahan Visibility)
Since the solar eclipse will occur during nighttime, it will not be visible from India. However, it can be observed in several other parts of the world, including Brazil, the Arctic, Cook Islands, Fiji, Chile, Peru, Honolulu, Antarctica, Argentina, Uruguay, Buenos Aires, Mexico, New Zealand, and Beka Island.

Surya Grahan Sutak Kaal Time 2024
The Sutak period begins several hours before the eclipse and ends when the eclipse concludes. For solar eclipses, the Sutak starts exactly 12 hours prior, whereas for lunar eclipses, it begins 9 hours in advance. Thus, the Sutak period for the solar eclipse on October 2 will commence at 9:13 AM. However, as the eclipse won’t be visible in India, the Sutak period will not be observed here.

How to Safely Watch the Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahan Viewing Tips)
This solar eclipse will be an annular one, occurring on October 2, 2024. Be sure to never view the eclipse directly with the naked eye for safety reasons.
